Nairobi this week hosted the 22nd Annual Conference of the African Private Capital Association (AVCA), convening over 800 global and domestic investors to redefine Africa’s private capital landscape. The message was clear: Kenya is no longer just a market it is Africa’s investment gateway.

East Africa’s Investment Momentum

With US$4.1 billion mobilised between 2021 and 2025 and projected GDP growth of ~6% through 2027, East Africa is attracting sustained investor interest. Ongoing reforms from capital market deepening to FX liberalization are improving entry conditions, governance, and exit pathways, reinforcing the region’s role as a hub for scalable capital deployment.

Private Credit Rising

A defining shift is the rise of private credit as a critical financing tool. Deal volumes are up 30% year‑on‑year, with East Africa accounting for 36% of transactions. Private debt is bridging financing gaps in infrastructure, SMEs, and climate‑linked sectors areas where SEE Impact is actively designing blended finance solutions.

From Projects to Systems

Investors are pivoting toward integrated value chains. Strategic focus areas include energy systems, transport corridors, and industrial linkages that connect natural resources to processing and manufacturing. This signals a move away from fragmented investments toward scalable, interconnected economic systems an approach that mirrors SEE Impact’s ecosystem approach.

Domestic Capital Taking the Lead

Equally important is the growing role of domestic capital, particularly pension funds. As highlighted by the Central Bank of Kenya, local institutional investors are ready to deploy long‑term capital provided structures and returns are in place. This transition toward blended finance models, combining global and local capital, aligns directly with SEE Impact’s mission to mobilize restoration and agribusiness finance.

SEE Impact’s Opportunity

AVCA 2026 reinforces a clear mandate: to design and scale investable platforms that connect smallholder farmers, climate solutions, and value chains to structured capital. By positioning at the intersection of agriculture, climate, and finance, SEE Impact is building the systems that transform Africa’s investment gateway into a climate‑smart growth corridor.

Africa’s investment architecture is being redefined. The future lies not in isolated projects but in resilient systems. SEE Impact is ready to lead at this frontier where capital meets impact at scale.
